Shivamogga: In a gang-related incident, two rowdies were brutally hacked to death in broad daylight near Lashkar Mohalla Circle in Shivamogga on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Shoaib (35) of Tunganagar and Mohammad Ghaus (30) of Doddapet.

Another rowdy sheeter Yasin Qureshi was also stabbed. His condition is said to be serious. Qureshi has been rushed to a private hospital.

The atmosphere was tense following the indiscriminate killings. Police have tightened security as a precaution.

Gang rivalry is believed to be the motive behind the attack. According to sources, a group of assailants, including the deceased, attacked and stabbed Yasin Qureshi. In retaliation, Qureshi’s gang members brutally attacked two of the assailants with bats, machetes and other weapons, before fleeing.

A case has been registered in Kote police station.
