Kasturba Hospital, Manipal hosts nutrition stewardship program in collaboration with Abbott Healthcare

Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, in collaboration with Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., organized a Nutrition Stewardship Program aimed at enhancing clinical nutrition practices.
The event featured esteemed guests and key medical professionals. Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean of KMC, graced the program as the chief guest, while Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, served as the guest of honor. Dr. Shiran Shetty, Deputy Medical Superintendent and Professor of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and Ms. Suvarna Hebbar, In-Charge and Assistant Professor of the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics were present.
On this occasion, Dr. Shiran Shetty provided an overview of the Nutrition Stewardship Program. He noted that malnutrition and muscle loss are prevalent in continuum care and emphasized the importance of nutrition in clinical practice. Dr. Shetty also highlighted the necessity of sarcopenia assessment for patients, underscoring its relevance in improving patient outcomes.
Mr. Manoj from Abbott Healthcare handed over a Nutrition Assessment Kit to Kasturba Hospital, symbolizing the collaboration’s commitment to advancing nutritional care. Ms. Suvarna Hebbar, proposed vote of thanks and this was the informative program dedicated to fostering better nutrition in clinical settings.
