BJP MLA Harish Poonja released on station bail after enquiry

Mangaluru: BJP MLA Harish Poonja was released on station bail after he appeared at the police station for an enquiry related to two cases filed against him.

Poonja was booked under Sections 143, 147, 341, 504, 506 and 149 of IPC for staging a protest against the arrest of BJP leader Shashiraj Shetty. The MLA also had a verbal altercation with the police during the protest.

The police had arrived at MLA Poonja’s residence on May 22 to arrest him but later served him notice to appear before the police station for the enquiry.
