Udupi: DC announces prohibitory orders on June 4

Udupi District Commissioner Dr. K. Vidyakumari has issued a prohibitory order, effective from 5 am to midnight, on June 4 in view of the counting of votes for the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency which will take place at St. Cecily’s Institute in Brahmavara.

As per the order, gathering of five or more people in public places is prohibited.

A 100-meter radius around the vote counting center has been designated as a pedestrian zone. No vehicles will be allowed to enter or park within this area. The use of mobile phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the 100-meter area, except for election officers and personnel authorized by the Chief Election Officer’s office.

Processions, public meetings, victory marches, use of loudspeakers, and bursting of firecrackers are prohibited the order states.

Legal action will be taken against anyone flouting the orders.
