Uppunda: Man drowns after falling into river while fishing

Uppunda: A man drowned after accidentally slipping into the river while casting his net on the banks of the Sowparnika River in Badakere, Nada village in Byndoor taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Manju (57).

Incident Details: Manju, a professional fisherman, left his home on Monday afternoon around 3:30 PM to fish in the river. While standing on the bank of the Sowparnika River and casting his net, he accidentally slipped and fell into the water, going missing soon after.

Despite a search by local residents, he could not be found due to the strong currents in the river. His body was discovered in the Sowparnika River on Tuesday.

Byndoor Police Station Officer Dr. Harsha IPS and his team visited the incident site and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Byndoor police station regarding this incident.
