Mangaluru: A woman has alleged that she was sexually assaulted and threatened by her acquaintance on multiple occasions including when hospitalised in the city for medical treatment.

A complaint has been registered at the Kadri Police Station against the accused, Sujith from Pullur in Kerala.

According to the complaint, the woman met the accused, a physical trainer, at a gym in Kasaragod. The alleged sexual assault began when the woman had been hospitalised in Mangaluru for treatment in March this year. Sujith allegedly raped the woman and snapped her photos.

Later, the accused used them to blackmail the woman to come to Mangaluru. The accused raped her repeatedly at a hotel in the city for four days in April, the complaint says.

The sexual abuse continued when the woman was admitted to another private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment of food poisoning, the complaint adds.

Sujith allegedly also issued death threats to the woman so as not to disclose it to anyone.

Police meanwhile, have registered a case under sections 376, 506 and 149 of the IPC. The accused has been arrested and produced before the court.
