Mangaluru: The police have filed the ‘B’ report in the court regarding the incident of offering Namaz on the city road. The ‘B’ report claims that there was no intention to obstruct traffic.
Police had filed a suo motu case after the video went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Kadri Police Inspector Somashekar, who registered the suo motu case without informing senior officers, has been sent on compulsory leave, and an ACP-level officer has been appointed for the investigation.
Sharan Pumpwell booked:
A case has been registered against Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sharan Pumpwell over a social media post after the Namaz video went viral.
In his post, Sharan warned that if Namaz is performed again at the same place, Bajrang Dal will directly intervene and stop it.
The post was made in a manner that incited hatred among people, threatened to take the law into one’s own hands, and created fear in society. Due to the possibility of communal harmony being disrupted in Mangaluru city, a case has been registered, stated Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal.
