Lucknow: In a strange incident, a thief who broke into a doctor’s house in Lucknow fell asleep. He woke up the next morning to find policemen around him.
According to IANS, the incident happened in Sector-20 of Indira Nagar, which is under the Ghazipur police station.
The report said that the incident took place at the home of Sunil Pandey, a doctor at Balrampur Hospital. Pandey is currently working in Varanasi, so his house was empty.
Neighbors saw Pandey’s door open in the morning and became suspicious. When they looked inside, they found the house in a mess with items scattered everywhere.
The Ghazipur police were called. They found the thief, named Kapil, sleeping inside. He was arrested and charged with theft under IPC section 379 A.
Ghazipur Station House Officer (SHO), Vikas Rai, said that further legal action was being taken.
According to the official, the thief tampered with the water pump and tried to steal the house battery before falling asleep.
“The cupboards were broken into. Everything, including cash, was taken. The thief even attempted to steal the washbasin, gas cylinder, and water pump,” said the official. He also said, “It appeared he collapsed from intoxication while attempting to remove the battery and fell asleep,” the official added.
