Porsche crash: 2 held for acting as middlemen between accused doctors and teen’s father

PTI, Jun 4, 2024, 7:20 PM IST

Pune police have arrested two more individuals connected to the Porsche accident case which resulted in the deaths of two IT professionals in Kalyani Nagar. The accused have been identified as middlemen facilitating financial transactions between doctors at Sassoon General Hospital and the juvenile driver’s father, an official disclosed on Tuesday.

The incident took place on May 19, when a Porsche, allegedly driven by a drunk 17-year-old, collided with a two-wheeler. The teen’s parents, Shivani and Vishal Agarwal, have already been detained for allegedly tampering with evidence.

Further investigations revealed that Ashphak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad acted as intermediaries, facilitating payments to manipulate the teen’s blood samples. A substantial recovery of Rs 50 lakh from one of the facilitators points to a deeper nexus of corruption.
