Karnataka: BJP calls for CM Siddaramaiah’s resignation over Rs 187 crore scam in Valmiki corporation
PTI, Jun 8, 2024, 4:58 PM IST
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka has escalated its demands for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation in light of an alleged Rs 87 crore fraud linked to the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation Limited.
State Tribal Welfare Minister B Nagendra has already submitted his resignation amid the accusations. The BJP shared an affidavit, reportedly from the ‘accused number 8’, submitted to the court seeking the preservation of crucial evidence, including CCTV footage and WhatsApp chats.
As calls mount for an impartial investigation, the BJP insists that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and step down to facilitate the probe without any hindrances.
