Red alert issued for June 9 in coastal Karnataka; Very heavy rain expected

Mangaluru: The coastal region experienced heavy rainfall throughout Saturday. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecasted that this pattern will continue.
Heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, is expected in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on June 9. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for the region, indicating the possibility of rainfall exceeding 204.5 mm.
Winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 45 to 55 kmph.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
Additionally, the IMD has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for June 10 and 11, and a ‘Yellow Alert’ for June 12.
