Ullal: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta has called for a thorough investigation by the police department to arrest and punish those responsible for the knife attack on BJP workers at Boliyar.

The MP said that two BJP members were attacked with deadly weapons while celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in for the third term by chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” in Boliyar. The attack appears to be a pre-planned act, allegedly with the involvement of Congress leaders.

He spoke after visiting the injured BJP workers — Harish and Nandan Kumar — who are receiving treatment for knife wounds sustained.

“It is alarming that individuals with a jihadist mindset carried out a deadly assault on workers who chanted slogans in praise of Bharat Mata. Since the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah came to power in the state, law and order have completely deteriorated. For the past month, the police department has been demoralizing BJP workers,” he stated.

He also criticized the police for registering cases against workers who chanted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” stating that the police department in Karnataka has reached a point where it acts against nationalistic sentiments.

Chowta emphasized that maintaining law and order in the district is the police department’s duty, warning against conducting politically biased investigations. He urged action based on video footage related to the incident.

BJP district president Satish Kumpala and other BJP leaders were also present during the visit.
