The Banakal police have successfully apprehended the accused involved in the 2022 theft of a laptop from the Taruve Gram Panchayat office .

The arrested individual, identified as Sharath, hails from Nalki village in Mangaluru.

Two years ago, Sharath allegedly broke into the Taruve Gram Panchayat office and stole a laptop before fleeing the scene, leaving the police with little to go on.

Following the theft, he took up work in a plantation in Hemmakki, Kalasa, and refrained from using any mobile phones to avoid detection. However, he recently purchased a SIM card, which led to his arrest by the police.

The operation was led by Banakal Sub-Inspector Kaushik and included team members HC Ramesh Kumar, Sachin, Mehboob, Malatesh, and driver Ashok.
