Mysuru: Siddaramaiah refuted claims that attempts were made to shield actor Darshan, who is facing accusations of murder of a fan. “No one approached me regarding Darshan. No influential people came to me. If it is being reported that someone did, it is just rumours. BJP leaders are simply making baseless statements,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday.

Speaking to reporters at Mandakalli Airport, he responded to a question about whether special arrangements were made for actor Darshan and his gang in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. “I don’t know why the police put up a shamiana. I am not aware of any inconvenience caused to the public. No complaints have been received from the public. If complaints arise, we will address them. We will ensure that the public is not inconvenienced. We operate according to the law and will continue to do so,” he said.

Regarding Yediyurappa getting relief form High Court in a POCSO case, he said, “I will not comment on the court’s decision. I reiterate that the Congress party never engages in politics of hatred. We operate according to the law and respect court orders. I do not have to respond to all the allegations made by the opposition parties.”

No Plans to Halt Guarantee Schemes

“We did not implement guarantee schemes for votes. Under no circumstances will these schemes be stopped or re-evaluated. We implemented them for the welfare of the poor,” Siddaramaiah stated.

“Although we may have faced setbacks in Lok Sabha seats, our vote share has increased by 13%. It is true that we lost in Mysuru, but we won in Chamarajanagar. I will not disclose the reasons for our loss to the media but will inform the party high command. We have increased our seats from 1 to 9 in the state,” he added.
