Kaup: Unidentified woman found dead on railway track

Kaup: An unidentified woman was found dead, stuck between the poles of the railway track on the Udyavara Papanashini River, on Friday evening.

It is suspected that the woman, believed to be from North India, may have fallen from a moving train.

The woman’s body was severely mutilated, and due to the impact of the collision, it was found wedged between the railway track and a large beam placed in the river.

The completely disfigured body was retrieved in the presence of Kaup police and railway police by social worker Soori Shetty and ambulance staff from the Primary Health Center, led by Nagaraj, and then transported to the Ajjarkad mortuary in Udupi.

Kaup SI Abdul Khader and his team have registered a case at Kaup police station, and the investigation is ongoing.

It is suspected that the deceased woman might have been a laborer from North India. She was wearing a nightie and had a mangalsutra around her neck, and Rs. 150 was found in her purse. The police request that if anyone can identify the woman or knows her relatives, they should contact Kaup police station at 0820 – 2551033.
