The Congress government’s decision to increase prices of petrol, diesel, and alcohol has drawn sharp criticism from the opposition.
Aravind Bellad, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, lashed out at the state government, accusing it of being anti-people and burdening the citizens with price hikes.
Speaking at a press conference, Bellad stated, “The Congress has burdened the people with price hikes. The public gave a fitting response to the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, and now, out of spite, they have increased prices, cutting into people’s pockets. The rise in petrol and diesel prices significantly impacts daily life. The government’s claim that petrol prices are lower here compared to other states is shameful. They’ve even increased the price of alcohol, which is consumed by the poor, and hiked stamp duty charges, proving themselves to be against the common man. They promised an endless supply through their guarantees, but have instead deceived the people.”
Bellad also addressed issues surrounding Bakrid, noting, “Many cows are being slaughtered during Bakrid, and in Dharwad, a person who tried to protect cows was attacked. The police have filed a complaint against the victim. The government must abandon its anti-Hindu stance and minority appeasement policies. It supports individuals with criminal backgrounds, and Minister Zameer Ahmed is making settlements with goons.”
He further criticized the government by referring to the Renukaswamy murder case, “Seeing Darshan in the Renukashwamy murder case, it’s hard to tell if he’s a man or a demon. We didn’t know he was like this, which is why he was made an agricultural ambassador. The government is giving royal treatment to those involved in anti-social and criminal activities. What more can be said about such a government? The rise in criminal cases in the state is due to the government’s mindset,” Bellad concluded.
