A man allegedly set a bike of a youth on fire presuming that the vehicle belonged to his friend with whom he had a rivalry.

The accused is identified as Nitesh, a resident of Kumdelu. Nitesh was once friends with Sujith, brother of Sumanth, but had a fallout later and developed animosity towards him.

The bike owner Chandrahas, a resident of Ammunje Pandilu had left his bike at his friend Sumanth’s house as he was going on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala.

As Sumanth had used Chandrahas’s bike a few times for some work, Nitesh thought that the bike belonged to him. He thus pushed it a short distance away from the house and set it on fire out of spite for Sujith.

Sumanth filed a complaint in this regard at Bantwal Rural Police Station.
