The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), based on forecasts from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall advisory for several districts in Karnataka. The warning is in effect from June 22 to June 25, 2024.

The cyclonic circulation over the northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal persists at altitudes between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level. Additionally, the trough at mean sea level runs off the south Maharashtra-north Kerala coasts. The cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and neighboring regions has become less marked.

Coastal and adjacent districts of Malnad are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extreme rainfall from June 22 to June 25, 2024. There are also warnings for strong winds and potential landslides.

The heavy rainfall is expected to cause localized flooding, road waterlogging, reduced visibility, traffic disruptions, and potential damage to vulnerable structures. Landslides and damage to crops are also possible.
