Haphazard flyover construction work causes artificial flooding at Kalladka

Bantwal: The ongoing flyover construction at Kalladka, part of the BC Road-Addahole National Highway development, continues to cause disruption. On Sunday afternoon, heavy rain resulted in artificial flooding on the Kalladka service road.

The lack of a proper drainage system to channel rainwater has been a persistent issue in this area. Sunday’s heavier-than-usual rain caused vehicles to navigate through waterlogged roads. The water accumulated on the road was deep enough to submerge the wheels of smaller vehicles.

Since the commencement of highway construction, traffic disruptions have been a constant problem. Despite repeated directives from the district’s legislators, the supervising minister, and the newly elected MP to carry out the work in a manner that minimizes inconvenience to the public, and even after the Dakshina Kannada District Commissioner personally inspected the site and instructed proper execution, the issues remain unresolved.

Sunday’s artificial flood stands as evidence of the ongoing problem.
