Mangaluru: The investigation into the robbery at the residence of businessman Padmanabha Kotyan in Permanki, under the Mangaluru Rural Police Station limits, is now focusing on the role of any locals in the crime.

It is not yet confirmed whether the crime was committed by a local gang. However, several locals have been subjected to intense questioning by the police.

Efforts to identify the vehicle used in the robbery are also underway. Police officials have assured that the robbers will be apprehended soon.

When the robbery took place on the night of Friday, June 21, information about the incident quickly reached Padmanabha Kotian’s relatives and friends through the workers in the plantation. It is gathered that the workers only managed to send out a brief message stating, “Some people are attacking dhani (master).”

Consequently, over a hundred people rushed towards Kotian’s residence. During this time, the robbers’ car was allegedly seen leaving the area, but those arriving did not realize it.

It is believed that the robbers may have used a rental car, and the police are gathering information on this aspect as well.

Padmanabha Kotian discharged from hospital

Padmanabha Kotian, who sustained injuries from the knife attack and scuffle with the robbers, was released from hospital on Sunday night.

Theft Four Days Prior

A theft reportedly occurred at a local temple in the same area just four days before the robbery.
