Mangaluru: After several days of effort, a student from Kadaba and her mother finally succeeded in securing a hostel accommodation. Officials from the Department of Social Welfare called them on Tuesday and informed them that the girl could join the hostel on Wednesday.

The student had enrolled in a city college for her PUC education. As she could not secure a government hostel accommodation, her mother, who is also unwell, would accompany her daughter daily from Kadaba to Mangaluru.

When inquired at the Department of Social Welfare, they were initially told there was a server issue in processing the hostel application. On Monday evening, they were assured that the application would be accepted and the hostel accommodation provided.

Despite this assurance, both mother and daughter were worried about the hostel arrangement. On Tuesday, ‘Udayavani’ published a report about their ordeal.

On Tuesday, officials contacted the student’s mother and informed her that the hostel accommodation had been arranged. Both mother and daughter expressed their happiness and relief. The student expressed her joy, stating, “The hostel authorities have called us. They said we could join tomorrow.”

Following the report about the difficulties faced due to the lack of hostel accommodation, many came forward to help the duo. Some offered temporary accommodation in the city until the hostel was available. Additionally, some PG owners volunteered to provide free stay for the student until she secured hostel accommodation.
