Bengaluru: Due to the rising demand for English medium instruction in the newly established bilingual schools in the state, the government has decided to open additional English medium sections in 25 schools.
Currently, English medium classes from grade one have been initiated in 2,404 government Kannada/Urdu medium schools across the state. The government has now directed the opening of an additional English medium section in 25 schools.
The increase in student enrollment for English medium classes and the demand from parents have prompted the Department of School Education and Literacy to take this step.
The additional English medium sections will be established in the following areas: six schools in Bengaluru North, three each in Bangalore Rural and Vijayapura, and two each in Sirsi, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Davangere Ramanagara, and one each in Haveri, Chikkodi and Bagalkote.
The government has not allocated additional funds for the new sections. Instead, schools are permitted to utilize local resources to start the classes without incurring any financial burden.
