Hubballi Airport Director receives anonymous threat email

A case has been registered at Gokul Road Police Station regarding an anonymous threat email sent to the office of Hubballi Airport Director.

The threatening email was sent to Director Rupeshkumar Shripad on June 24 morning. Immediately he alerted the airport authorities and bomb disposal squad to conduct thorough security checks as per the protocol.

Police officials said that an investigation is underway to determine who sent the threatening email and from where it originated. Reportedly, similar threat emails have been sent to airports across the country.

Rupeshkumar Shripad said that similar threatening emails were sent to other airports. He said that the threat email claimed that a bomb had been placed in the restroom.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said the contents of the email was brought to the notice of senior airport authority officials and the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner. All areas of the airport was inspected, and it was determined to be a hoax email.

A case has been registered at Gokul Road Police Station, and all necessary precautionary measures have been implemented at the airport.
