A massive protest erupted in Mangaluru led by the district BJP, condemning the alleged misappropriation and mismanagement of crores of rupees in the Valmiki Corporation. The protesters accused the state government of being anti-people and demanded immediate action.
As part of their demonstration, BJP leaders and activists attempted to lay siege to the District Commissioner’s office. The protesters managed to breach two sets of barricades and charged towards the office, causing significant commotion.
The police faced a tough challenge in controlling the situation. In a dramatic turn of events, former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, and MLA Bhagirathi Murulya were among those detained by the police.
The protest saw a tense exchange of words between the police and female activists. In a notable incident, Rupashree, a member of the local municipality, along with other women activists, sat on the road in protest, alleging that the police had pulled at their sarees, sparking further outrage.
The situation remains tense as the BJP continues to demand accountability and action from the state government regarding the Valmiki Corporation scandal.
