Karkala: Three students from the taluk — Amulya Hegde and Nikita from the Kadthala government school, and Swastik, a high school student from Bailuru Government PU College — have been selected for the national level of the ‘INSPIRE’ Award competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Amulya Hegde has developed a model called “Flood Detector,” and Nikita a model named “Ropo Meter.” The guidance of national award-winning teacher Suresh Marakala played a crucial role in the students’ achievements.
The “Flood Detector” model by Amulya Hegde conceptualizes flood-level detection that can save lives during floods and heavy rains. It is affordable and can be installed anywhere as needed.
Nikita’s “Ropo Meter” is a device that measures the length of wires, cables, ropes, and similar items with great precision.
Swastik prepared a model called “Sliding Mechanism Thread Cycle,” which replaces pedals with a sliding mechanism, making it convenient for children and differently-abled individuals.
These innovative projects have earned the students recognition and the opportunity to compete at the national level.
