Bantwal: Viral video of leopard hunting a crocodile is fake news
Forest department issues clarification

A video showing a big cat, allegedly a leopard, catching a crocodile has gone viral on social media, with claims that it is from Bantwal. However, this is false information.
Upon closely observing the animal catching the crocodile in the video, it is evident that the spots on its skin are entirely different from those of a leopard. It resembles a jaguar, an animal found in South America. Jaguars are known to prey on crocodiles along riverbanks.
Therefore, the scenes in the video are not from India, as confirmed by forest department sources.
This footage has been circulating on social media for a few days. Messages are spreading on social media, warning people going to the riverbank to catch fish to be cautious, claiming that the footage is from a river in Bantwal. In this context, the forest department has issued a clarification.
