Bengaluru: A social media ‘influencer’ has been arrested by the Kothanur police for allegedly causing public panic by giving fake AK-47 guns to four or five ‘bodyguards’ for an Instagram reel.
The arrested accused is Arun Kathare (26), a resident of JP Nagar.
On June 9, he arrived at Leela Hotel near Bharatiya City in Chokkanahalli with bodyguards holding fake AK-47 guns and scared some people by flaunting the guns.
The public, alarmed by the incident, informed the patrolling police. Arun also made an Instagram reel video showing himself traveling in a car with bodyguards holding guns.
Based on this information, the Kothanur police registered a case against him under the Arms Act for causing public disturbance. Arun Kathare has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Originally from Chitradurga, Arun Kathare used to post reels on social media, flaunting a luxurious lifestyle with fake gold jewelry, fake guns, bodyguards, beautiful women, luxury cars, and bikes. He has many followers on social media and is currently residing in JP Nagar, Bengaluru, according to the police.
