Mangaluru: A Lokayukta Court has acquitted Retired Commandant Krishnappa, who had served as the Commandant of the Seventh KSRP Battalion, in the disproportionate assets case.

The verdict was delivered by Judge Sandhya S. of the Dakshina Kannada District Lokayukta Court.

Krishnappa, an officer of the 1991 batch, had his home and office raided by Lokayukta officials in 2006. It was alleged that he possessed assets worth over Rs. 87 lakhs. Prasanna V. Raj conducted the investigation, and Dr. Prabhudeva Mane submitted the chargesheet to the court.

Krishnappa, originally from Khanderayanahalli in Haveri district, owned ancestral properties in Khanderayanahalli and Davangere. Before joining KSRP, he worked as an Assistant Central Intelligence Officer in the Central Government. His wife received gold, silver, and immovable properties as dowry during their marriage. Despite declaring these assets in his annual returns, the Lokayukta officials filed charges without considering this income.

Krishnappa’s lawyer, Rajesh Kumar Amtadi of P.P. Hegde Associates, argued that the false case was filed to prevent Krishnappa from being promoted to IPS officer.
