Jain Muni Virag Sagar Ji attains Samadhi

Jain Muni Ganacharya Bal Brahmachari 108 Gunadhari, Virag Sagar Ji Digambar Munimaharaj, attained Samadhi during his Sallekhana vow at Deva Murti village in Sindhkheda, Jalgaon, Maharashtra, at 2:30 am on Thursday. He was 61 years old.
Originally from Madhya Pradesh, Virag Sagar Ji conferred Jain religious titles and initiations to over 350 individuals, including Acharya, Digambar Muni, Ganini Mataji, Aryika Mataji, Kshullak Diksha, and Brahmacharya Diksha, spreading the influence of Jainism nationwide. He authored more than 150 works, including critiques of Jain Agama scriptures.
His father, Kapoorchand Jain, also took monkhood, and his mother received the Aryika Mataji title within the community.
Moodabidri visit
In 2005, in the Jain Kashi of Moodabidri, Virag Sagar Ji undertook Chaturmas with Munis and sadhus, spreading religious influence. Under the honorary presidency of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the Chaturmas Committee functioned with notable heads of various religious institutions, including Aremadanahalli Shivasujnana Murti Swamiji, meeting Virag Sagar Ji.
Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and H.K. Patil had also visited Moodabidri to receive his blessings.
Prayer for Sadgati
Bhattaraka Charukeerti Panditacharyavarya Swamiji of Moodabidri expressed his condolences, stating, “Virag Sagar Ji inspired lay followers who observed strict vows, guiding them on the path of self-welfare and being an excellent religious teacher.” He prayed for the departed soul’s peace.
