Parappana Agrahara prison security officers caught an undertrial prisoner attempting to smuggle a mobile phone concealed in his rectum, as he was being taken to jail.

On July 2, the undertrial prisoner Raghuveer was produced before a court in connection with a case. While being escorted back to jail by Constable Srikrishna, Raghuveer complained of stomach pain.

Constable Srikrishna informed the prison authorities about Raghuveer’s complaint of stomach pain. While he was being taken inside, a metal detector went off, arousing suspicion. Further scanning with another device confirmed a sound emanating from his rectum.

Upon medical examination, including an X-ray, the doctors found the mobile phones hidden in his rectum. The phones were removed surgically and handed over to the officials.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he planned to sell the phones to some individuals inside the jail for money.

Police stated that further investigation is needed to identify the inmates involved in the scheme.
