RED alert for Coastal Karnataka on July 6 and 7, Extremely heavy rainfall predicted

Mangaluru: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a RED alert for extremely heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of Karnataka over the next two days, July 6 and 7, 2024. The districts affected include Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi.
According to the forecast, the coastal regions will experience widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy showers, and isolated places might receive extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.5 mm. The probability of such intense rainfall is categorized as “very likely.”
The IMD’s forecast also indicates that the heavy rainfall is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, with speeds reaching 30-40 km/h at isolated places.
IMD also issued yellow alert warning until July 9 for the coastal areas.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather information.
