Inter-state thief arrested for thefts in Mulki

A notorious inter-state thief has been arrested for stealing mobile tower batteries and compound gates in the Mulki police station limits, Mulki Police said on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Itti Panicker (58), a native of Kollam in Kerala.

The suspect, who hails from KS Rao Nagar in Kilpadi village near Mulki Railway Station, was involved in stealing batteries from Airtel mobile towers. The thefts occurred in three locations: KS Rao Nagar in Kilpadi village, Airtel mobile towers in Thalipadi village, and five iron gates from Nelligudde Cross in Ikkala village.

Three separate cases had been registered at Mulki police station regarding these thefts, police said.

Police said the suspect was arrested on July 7. They recovered a total of 39 batteries and iron gates related to the theft cases. A pickup vehicle used for transporting the goods was also seized. The total value of the seized goods is Rs 8.08 lakhs.

The suspect will be presented before the court, police said.
