Team Udayavani, Jul 8, 2024, 8:33 AM IST

Udupi: Due to continuous heavy rainfall, a holiday has been declared for 44 schools in Byndoor taluk for Monday (July 8).

“We have also instructed to announce holidays in rural areas where it is difficult for students to commute. Each school will make a decision and inform the parents, prioritizing children’s safety,” said K. Ganapathi, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), School Education and Literacy Department, to Udayavani.

Discretion to headteacher

All headteachers have been instructed to observe the rain, flooding, and other conditions and, if necessary, declare holidays to ensure students’ safety. They must inform the educational coordinators and CRPs about this decision.

The village-level disaster management team members, including the headteachers, are expected to carry out their duties with discretion.

If a holiday is not necessary, parents should be informed that attendance is not mandatory for students who face inconvenience due to rain.

This directive applies to all aided, government, and unaided schools.
