Udupi: Heavy rainfall over the past two days has led to several houses being flooded in the Udupi City Municipality area.

In areas such as Karamballi, Moodanidambur, and Kodavoor, flooding has been reported. Some houses in Bannanje Moodanidambur and Karamballi have been inundated.

Low-lying areas, plantations, and fields near the Indrani river have also been submerged.

Several houses in Karamballi Venkatramana Layout have been reported as flooded.

Heavy rain has caused the stormwater drains in the city to overflow, raising concerns about flooding in many houses in the area. In some places, motorcycles and cars parked in front yards have been submerged.

Children from these affected homes are struggling to get to school. Roads have also been flooded, causing disruptions to vehicular traffic.

Parents fume as children struggle to reach school

Despite heavy rains and flooding, the local administration in Udupi did not declare a holiday, causing students to attend school.

Parents expressed their anger as children had to navigate through flooded streets to reach their schools. The rainwater blocked the roads, making it difficult for students to walk without slipping and falling into the water.

Additionally, some school buses were caught in traffic jams due to the floods, further exacerbating the situation.
