Surathkal: Tourists using Google Maps to reach Panambur Beach are often misled and end up at the dangerous Meenakaliya beach.
Due to this, a home guard has been stationed at the hazardous beach to guide tourists to Panambur.
Travelers from Udupi to Mangaluru are directed via Narayanaguru Road near Haleangadi for Panambur Beach, while the app shows the Meenakaliya area as Panambur Beach.
Interestingly, Google Maps shows the road to Panambur Beach parking correctly.
When tourist vehicles from places like Bengaluru and Kolar reach the dangerous Meenakaliya area, home guard personnel warn them of the danger and redirect them.
Many tourists urged the tourism department to ensure proper registration and mapping of popular spots to avoid such issues.
