Bengaluru: A flex banner, put up to wish an MLA, injured an elderly man in Yelahanka’s Singanayakanahalli.
The injured has been identified as Bhakta Vatsala (70), a resident of Rajanukunte.
The incident occurred on Saturday while he was returning home on a bike after picking up his grandson from school. The flex banner fell, striking his head and causing severe bleeding. As a result, he has slipped into a coma.
The flex was reportedly put up to celebrate the local MLA’s birthday.
Not under BBMP jurisdiction:
In response to the incident, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) clarified that the location where the flex fell, Singanayakanahalli, does not fall under its jurisdiction.
In a statement, BBMP emphasized that Singanayakanahalli belongs to Yelahanka taluk. Some media outlets have incorrectly reported that the area is under BBMP’s purview.
BBMP stated it is already removing unauthorized flex banners and will take disciplinary action against those who put up banners within its jurisdiction.
