Amid heavy rainfall across the Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert.
Rivers are overflowing, and low-lying areas are submerged. As a precautionary measure, the district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi has declared a holiday for Anganwadi centers, schools, and PU colleges on July 16 (Tuesday).
Dakshina Kannada District Commissioner Mullai Mugilan and Udupi District Commissioner Vidyakumari have issued an order announcing the closure of all educational institutions in the districts.
In Kodagu district, the district administration has declared for schools, PU and Degree colleges on July 16.
On Monday, heavy rain lashed the region, prompting the officials to advise residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
