Kambala: Medal-winning buffalo ‘Lucky’ no more

Kinnigoli (Dakshina Kannada): The buffalo ‘Lucky,’ well-known in the Kambala circuits, passed away on Wednesday.

Last year’s Kambala season saw Lucky winning 5 medals. At the first-ever Kambala held in the capital city of Bengaluru, Lucky won second place in the Negilu Hiriya category. It had also won medals at the Kakyapadavu, Bengaluru, Naringana, Aikala, and Jeppu Kambala events.

The demise of the buffalo, raised by Varapadi Badagumane Diwakar Chowta, has brought immense sorrow to many Kambala enthusiasts. Numerous people visited to pay their final respects.
