The Shiradi Ghat section of National Highway 75 has been closed for all vehicular traffic following a landslide on Thursday.
Hassan District Commissioner Satyabhama C. issued an order on Thursday evening prohibiting all vehicular movement on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway at Shiradi Ghat due to a landslide.
A landslide occurred at Shiradi Ghat, prompting the police to install barricades and inform travelers heading to Sakleshpur, Hassan, and Bengaluru to use alternate routes from Thursday morning onwards.
The landslide happened at Doddatappalu on National Highway 75 at around 2:30 AM on Thursday (July 18), causing damage to an Omni vehicle. Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed.
As a precautionary measure, authorities have taken steps to prevent any untoward incidents due to the continuous rainfall over the past few days.
Vehicles traveling to Mysuru and Bengaluru can use the alternate Charmadi Ghat-Kottigehara route, according to the district commissioner.
