Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh
Bengaluru: Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh assured that the work order for the Surathkal market project will be issued soon.
In the Legislative Assembly, BJP’s Dr. Bharath Shetty raised the delay in the construction of the market at Surathkal. The tender for the Surathkal market project was issued four to five years ago, but the work order has not been issued, leaving the site abandoned. He urged for the work order to be issued and the construction to begin.
Responding to this, the Minister said that the tender process began in 2018, but technical issues and land problems caused delays. The work order could not be issued due to the election code of conduct. All issues have now been resolved, and the project, worth Rs 54.66 crore, has been approved. The work order will be issued soon, he added.
Auto Meter Stamping at Mangaluru RTO
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy promised that auto-rickshaw meter stamping will be done twice a week at the Mangaluru RTO office, instead of drivers having to go to Kulasekhara.
Vedavyas Kamath requested this change as there are 8,000 auto-rickshaws in the city, and drivers currently travel 15 km to Kulasekhara for meter stamping, often returning without getting the stamping due to long queues.
Demand for High Court Bench in Udupi
BJP’s Yashpal Suvarna urged for the establishment of a High Court bench in Udupi. Since Law Minister H.K. Patil was not present in the Assembly, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara said that a response would be given later.
