The court has dismissed actor Darshan’s request for permission to have home-cooked meals while in judicial custody. Darshan, who is in custody in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, had applied to the court seeking permission for home-cooked food, a personal bed, and clothes.
The 24th ACMM Court in Bangalore heard the plea on Thursday, July 25, and rejected the application, stating that home-cooked food, a bed, and personal clothes cannot be allowed.
According to jail regulations, specifically Rule 728, such facilities cannot be provided to those accused of murder, the court noted. Darshan had claimed in his application that the food provided in jail was causing him issues like diarrhea and indigestion, and hence he requested home-cooked meals.
Darshan has also submitted a plea to the High Court regarding this matter, with a hearing scheduled for July 29.
In connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, actor Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 17 others have been placed under judicial custody until August 1.
