The Dakshina Kannada District Congress on Saturday held a protest in front of the Gandhi statue at Lal Bagh, Mangaluru, accusing the central government of injustice by not allocating funds or projects to Karnataka in the Union Budget.
Addressing the protest, MLC Ivan D’Souza criticized the central government for neglecting Karnataka’s tax share. He stated, “The central government has once again ignored Karnataka in the Union Budget, providing nothing substantial.”
Prominent leaders, including former minister B. Ramanath Rai, district president Harish Kumar, Women’s Congress district president Shalet Pinto, former minister Abhay Chandra Jain, Sadashiva Ullal, and Shashidhar Hegde, participated in the protest. They symbolically displayed empty vessels to signify the state’s unfulfilled needs.
