Belagavi: Continuous rains and floods have caused multiple issues in Khanapur taluk, leading to a heart-wrenching incident in Krishnapura village where villagers had to carry a body for six kilometers due to lack of road connectivity.
The heavy rains have cut off road access, forcing the villagers to carry the deceased for six kilometers for the last rites.
Sadananda Nayak, a resident of Krishnapura village in the Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary, was suffering from a severe fever. His family took him to the nearby Valpai village for treatment, but unfortunately, he passed away in the hospital.
For the funeral, the villagers had to carry the body for six kilometers. The journey included crossing a wooden bridge, which caused significant anxiety. The villagers had to proceed with utmost caution to ensure the safe passage of the body.
Krishnapura and several other villages in the Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary lack basic amenities, including hospitals. These villages, located in dense forest areas, face development challenges. Consequently, the residents live in constant fear and uncertainty. There is a growing opinion that these forest-edge villages should be permanently relocated to ensure the safety and well-being of the inhabitants.
