Udupi: Memorial Service Held for Senior Journalist Jayakar Suvarna

Udupi: A memorial service was organized on Saturday at the Brahmagiri IMA Hall, Udupi, to pay tribute to senior journalist and photographer Jayakar Suvarna.

The event was held under the joint aegis of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, South Kanara Photographers’ Association (Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district branches), and the Udupi Press Club Committee.

Former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj spoke at the event, remembering Jayakar Suvarna as an honest journalist with a humble personality, free from ego. He praised Suvarna’s gentle nature, noting that he never hurt anyone and lived a life without causing harm to others, eventually attaining a peaceful death.

Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Udupi Block Congress President Ramesh Kanchan, Lecturer Dr. Niketana, District President of the Journalists’ Association Rajesh Shetty Alevur, State Committee Member Kiran Manjanbailu, and journalists Mohanchandra Nambiar, Shashidhar Mastibailu, Rahim Ujire, Uday Padiyar, Astro Mohan, along with South Kanara Photographers’ Association (Dakshina Kannada and Udupi) President Padmaprasad Jain, and Udupi Zone Honorary President Naveen Ballal, also paid their respects.

District Working Journalists’ Association General Secretary Nazir Polya, Treasurer Umesh Marpalli, Udupi Press Club Committee Convener Ajit Aradi, Co-ConvenerAnkit Shetty, SKPA Udupi Zone President Sudhir Shetty, General Secretary Divakar Hiriyadka, and Jayakar Suvarna’s family members were present. Journalist Nagaraj Varkadi anchored the event.
