Tulu actor Ashok Shetty of ‘Oriyardori Asal’ fame passes away

Ullal: Noted Tulu theatre artist and playwright, Ashok Shetty (53), renowned for his role as ‘Nathu’ in the Tulu film “Oriyardori Asal,” passed away on Monday, August 12.

Shetty, a resident of Ambli Mogaru, fell critically ill on Monday morning. He passed away while being transported to the hospital.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

A professional artist, Ashok Shetty dedicated many years to the theatre under the “Kalasangama” drama troupe led by Vijay Kumar Kodialbail. He had acted in numerous plays, films, and television serials and was also a prolific playwright. Several prominent figures in the Tulu theatre and cinema community have mourned his demise.
