Manipal: MP Kota Srinivas Poojary directed the Konkan Railway Corporation officials to submit a proposal to the Railway Department for a night train service from Bengaluru to Karwar, departing at 10 PM.
During a meeting with railway officials at his office in the DC Complex, Poojary emphasized the necessity of this train for the convenience of the coastal residents. He instructed the officials to promptly submit the proposal and assured that it would be discussed with the Railway Minister soon. Additionally, he directed a renewed proposal for the 111 km railway track doubling.
Poojary also suggested extending the Vande Bharat Express to stop at Kundapura Station, and that the service be extended from Mangalore to Bengaluru and from Karwar to Mumbai. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, he proposed developing the Indrali Railway Station to reflect the local cultural heritage.
Kundapura Station should also be developed, with provisions for water supply to the trains, railway parks, parking facilities, and other basic amenities. He also urged the reinstatement of the Vasco-Vellankanni train, previously operational during festival seasons. Poojary proposed a Udupi-Varanasi-Ayodhya-Tirupati train service for pilgrims. MLA Yashpal Suvarna emphasized the need for immediate action for the development of Udupi Railway Station.
Konkan Railway Corporation’s MD Santosh Kumar Jha stated that proposals for track doubling, new trains, extensions, and time changes would be submitted, with the final decision to be made by the Railway Board. Senior officials were present at the meeting.
