In a case of theft reported at the Hemmadi Shri Lakshminarayana Temple in Kundapur, a thief stole over Rs 40,000 in cash after breaking open the donation box on Saturday, August 17.

The thief reportedly entered the premises by unscrewing the latch of the door and gaining access through the surrounding area.

The thief, who was captured on CCTV footage, was seen wearing slippers, bowing in prayer, and then proceeding with the theft. He broke open the donation box and stole the money collected for the monthly Satyanarayana Puja.

The temple had undergone a renovation costing approximately 7 crores just a few months ago.
