Vitla: Auto driver stabbed in public view

In a shocking incident, an auto rickshaw driver was stabbed in public view at Urimajalu junction on Sunday, August 18.

The victim identified as Shareef sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Puttur hospital by locals. The accused Aapi, a resident of Karyadi Panchayat has been taken into custody by the police.

It is gathered that the menance of ganja addiction is on the rise in Urimajalu and Karyadi. It is believed that such criminal activities are being fueled by increasing drug use. The public has urged the police department to take serious measures to curb drug addiction and its related crimes.

Vitla police visited the spot and investigation is ongoing.
