Udupi is gearing up for the grand celebrations of Shri Krishna Janmashtami on August 26, followed by the Shri Krishna Leelotsava (Vittal Pindi) on August 27. Preparations have already begun on Car Street (Rathabeedi) for the festivities, where traditional clay pots (gurjis) will be placed for the event.
A total of 15 gurjis will be set up on Car Street, with two pavilions and seven gurjis associated with Krishna Mutt. The seven remaining gurjis are linked to the other seven Mutts, and the two pavilions are related to the Paryaya Mutt and Shri Krishna Mutt.
Specifically, three gurjis will be placed in front of the Chandramoulishwara Temple, three behind the Car Parking Pavilion, and three each in front of the Anantheshwara and Chandramoulishwara Temples. These arrangements are made to facilitate the traditional breaking of pots during Vittal Pindi.
Separate committees have been formed to oversee various aspects of the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, with responsibilities assigned to key personnel.
Under the guidance of Sri Sugunendratirtha Sripada, the head of Paryaya Puttige Mutt, preparatory meetings and activities have been conducted to ensure a smooth and vibrant celebration.
The entire town of Udupi is immersed in the festive spirit, ready to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna with devotion and enthusiasm.
