Mangaluru: A shocking incident has come to light where a group of students were kidnapped and assaulted here. The incident reportedly occurred following a football match between two prestigious colleges at Nehru Maidan on August 14.

During the match, a disagreement arose between the two teams after some students supported the opposing team, leading to a heated altercation. This rivalry took a violent turn on the evening of Monday, August 19, at around 6:15 PM, near the Forum Mall in Pandeshwar.

A 17-year-old student from a private college was attacked by a group of youths . The group allegedly kidnapped the student and his friends, forced them into a car, and brutally assaulted them.

The victims were taken to various locations, including Mahakali Padpu and near Kannur Mosque, where they were subjected to further physical abuse. The attackers reportedly stripped the victims partially, burned them with cigarettes, and recorded the assault, later sharing the video on WhatsApp.

The injured students have filed a complaint at the Pandeshwar police station. They were admitted to Wenlock Hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.

In connection with the case, the police have arrested two suspects, and are actively searching for the other accused individuals. Mangalore City Police Commissioner confirmed the ongoing investigation and the measures taken to apprehend the remaining suspects.
